Robert Welsh, Crew Director

Robert Welsh returns to Camden Catholic this season after coaching the novice girls last spring.  Previously, he spent three seasons as head coach of the Berkeley High School women in California, where his varsity 8 won a silver medal at the 2006 Scholastic National Championships.  Rob is a 1997 graduate of St. Joe’s Prep and member of the gold-medal winning Varsity 8 at Stotesbury and Nationals.  He holds a degree from Yale University, where he was a three-year member of the Varsity 8 and won three gold medals at the US National Championships in 2001.  Rob is currently a law student at Rutgers University

 

 

 

 

Stevens Lanes Vetter, Varsity Men's Coach

Stevens Vetter joins the program this season as varsity men’s coach.  His coaching experience dates back to the early 80’s, where his novice girls won the Philadelphia City Championships at Holy Spirit.  He then moved to the Baldwin School where his women’s four won Stotesbury in 1988.  Coach Vetter also had coaching stints at Lehigh University, Temple, and Chestnut Hill Academy, where his JV men’s quad won a silver medal at the Scholastic National Championships in 1993.

Steve has been an active member of the Fairmount Boat Club in Philadelphia for over twenty years and is an experienced referee with USRowing.
